Concrete projects to support
The Academy of Sciences is looking for partners to accompany and develop its programs, in order to put science back at the heart of society and contemporary societal issues, help train future generations of scientists and safeguard its archives.
Knowledge production is vital to a nation's
economic and cultural dynamism.
With this in mind, and in keeping with its mission to disseminate knowledge, the Académie des sciences
organizes colloquia to promote the exchange and confrontation of knowledge:
- The colloquia thus bring together every Tuesday a community of scientists, researchers, students and the curious of all ages around major current scientific topics.
- Les 5 à 7 de l'Académie des sciences offer the general public a regular appointment one Tuesday a month from 5pm to 7pm in the Grande salle des séances around different themes:
- A cycle de "Rencontre avec un Académicien" offers a series of privileged appointments
around an Academician, with a long time for exchanges with the audience.
- The section History and Philosophy of Science sheds light on the figures of great scientists or revisits major historical discoveries with a societal and ethical angle.
- La Main à la Pâte Foundation
- Since 2006, the Académie des sciences
also welcomes several
hundred young Parisian high school students each year, mainly located in ZEP areas, to meet
Academicians and visit the Palais de l'Institut de
France
Manuscripts, drawings, diagrams, photographs, research notebooks, letters, unpublished journals, sealed envelopes...: the documents preserved in the archives of the Académie des Sciences tell the story of over 350 years of scientific history. They constitute not only the memory of the Academicians, but also that of many disciplines: so many original items likely to reveal other knowledge, beyond the publications already known.
