Biography

Nobel Prize in Physics 2022, Alain Aspect is Director of Research Emeritus at the CNRS, Augustin Fresnel Professor at the Institut d'Optique graduate school and Professor at the École Polytechnique.
Alain Aspect is an experimental physicist, whose early work at the Institut d'Optique focused on quantum optics and the foundations of quantum mechanics. After contributing to the development of laser-cooling methods for atoms in Claude Cohen-Tannoudji's group at the ENS Kastler Brossel laboratory, he set up a research group at the Institut d'Optique active in the field of quantum atom optics, and quantum simulators based on ultra-cold atoms
