In episode 11 of our series "Treasures from the archives" , Odile Eisenstein, Director of Research Emeritus at the CNRS and member of the Académie des Sciences in the Chemistry section presents us with the work of Victor Grignard, published in the Comptes rendus de l'Académie des sciences which earned him his thesis and the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1912.

In his laboratory, Grignard developed a new magnesium reagent, paving the way for a major advance in organic chemistry: the "Grignard reaction", still used today, in research and industry.
