Biography

With a university background in computer science, Jocelyne TROCCAZ devoted her first years of research to modeling the geometric reasoning of robots, with a view to automating their programming for handling tasks. Discovering the first medical applications of robotics in 1990, she decided to redirect her activity exclusively towards healthcare applications. Her contributions concern the design of new robots for safe and efficient interaction with a human operator, and the control of these robots guided by medical images. As a result, she is extending the scope of her research to include medical image processing. With a view to contributing to the development of medical and surgical practices, it works closely with clinical teams in Grenoble and Paris to solve problems in several specialties (urology, radiotherapy, cardiac surgery, orthopedics, etc.). Numerous medical and surgical innovations have resulted from this work. Thanks to industrial transfer, millions of patients worldwide have benefited from her work.
