Presentation: The history of the Comité Science et métrologie begins with Louis XIV, who wanted precise measurements of his kingdom. Today, it leads a reflection on the fundamental constants at the basis of the International System (SI) of units, and its topicality is intimately linked to that of the Conférence Générale des Poids et des Mesures (CPGM), which meets every 4 years, chaired ex officio by the President of the Académie des Sciences.
